Featuring art by Sergio Davila, the new issue sees Spider-Man recruiting help from his own universe after spending some time on Fortnite Island. Now, the new Marvel x Fortnite: Zero War #1 is here from Donald Mustard and Christos Gage (the same team who wrote DC's Zero Point). Related: Fortnite's Foundation Teams with Iron Man, Thor & Storm in New Cover Art However, the Imagined Order also joined forces with DC's Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, and the Batman Who Laughs. Together they actively resisted the IO while trying to get back to their respective realities. Case in point, when Batman was sent to the Island and broke himself out of the Loop, he met other beings who had broken their loops as well.
While they can be saved from the Loop, copies known as snapshots are created that continue fighting. Not only that, but they also manipulate the Zero Point to travel the omniverse, often pulling the greatest fighters from multiple realities to battle on Fortnite Island in a constant loop of conflicts. As previously revealed in Fortnite's established lore from their Batman crossover (and the game itself), a group known as the Imagined Order (or IO) are the primary antagonists who threaten the stability of the omniverse in their quest for knowledge and power.
